Urgent Prayers Needed

Venus’ (Parker’s nurse) daughter went into labor at 28 weeks and is in need of some powerful prayer.  She is pregnant with her first child, a son, named Delsin.  She is currently at UNC Chapel Hill and they are trying to do everything to stop labor and save mom and baby.

Please keep this family in your prayers.  They are very special to us!

Thank you!

Yes, Christmas is over.  And thank goodness for that.  It was wonderful but also bittersweet.  We have come to learn that every major event in our lives will be bittersweet.   I know that she was was with us but just not in the way we wanted.  We’ll take what we can get though.

I made out pretty good this year.  Ashley bought me a Coach purse, tickets to see Reba and Kelly, Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Parker’s gift to me was a Tiffany’s ring.  I was quite surprised by the thought he put into each gift.  He’s so awesome!

My house is still recovering from the holidays but we’ll manage to get it back in place soon.  It was wonderful to spend Christmas with our family and friends but it’s always just as wonderful when they leave.

I wanted to post a quick update as it’s time for bed!

Until next time…

Merry Christmas

Show Us You Care By What You Wear

What better way to inspire people to get involved and bring awareness than to offer gifts!  I had posted a post similar to this one a few days ago but deleted it because I really wrote it on impulse and wanted to put some more thought into it.  I think I have it just right now.

Society has come to know the pink ribbon as Breat Cancer, red as Aids, yellow as Military and the puzzle is Autism so we need to do everything we can to add Turquoise to that list as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness.   The more people made aware the better chance we have at beating this birth defect.

I have emailed several companies requesting that they make the change on their websites of color definitions for the awareness ribbons and add us.  Let’s all pray that it works out just as easily.

So, here’s my proposal.  I want each of you to submit a picture with you wearing turquoise or someone else wearing turquoise or just something turquoise.  Nothing crude or rude please!  There will be four (4) gifts given out to the winners.

Most # of People in a Picture Wearing Turquoise – $75 MC gift card

Most Creative – $50 Target gift card

Sweetest Picture – $25 Wal-Mart gift card

Cutest Picture – Gift Basket from Bath and Body Works

Get everyone you know involved!  Let’s make this a huge success and help to bring awareness!

 Please submit your pictures to:

Post Office Box 2199

Elizabethtown, NC 28337

The deadline for submitting will be January 31, 2008.  It must be postmarked by this date or will not be eligible for consideration.

So, we are planning the room.  I am so excited about remodeling the room and bathroom for the Durham Ronald McDonald House.  I know that it will be greatly appreciated by the families who will use it and it’s a great way for us to honor Parker.  We are doing a beach theme and here are some of the items that we are buying for the room.  I want it to be a true oasis for the families that will be calling it home temporarily.  We have had some people already donate money and supplies and are so thankful to them.  If you would like to donate please email me privately and let me know.  I am going to start hitting up some local businesses for more donations.

Keep us in your prayers as we tackle this project.  We will definitely be taking pictures of the progress so no worries.  We will go to tour the house next week for measurements and to visit with the families.  I am really excited y’all because we are able to give back.  I know what it means as some of you had to stay in the RMH while your children were in the NICU so this is for you and all the families to follow.  I truly wish there were no need for the RMH but because there is we are here to give back.

Okay, that’s that post for now.  I will update in a few with another exciting post!  I have company and need to pay attention.

Until Next Time….
