As of 8 this morning the office is now complete!  Two coats of primer, two coats of paint, two coats of high gloss on moldings, 3 coats of polyurethane and you have one complete beautiful office.  The downside.  We can’t walk on the floor for three days so no putting the office together until this weekend but this girl’s not complaining because the office is DONE!!!

This weekend has been rough.  Ashley has been sick with a horrible cold!  He started running fever Friday night and it only continued to get worse on Saturday.  He finally started feeling better this morning although his cough is still bad and he still looks flushed but the fever is gone and he’s got his appetite back.  Ashley never gets sick and when he does it’s usually really bad and this was no exception.  When my husband doesn’t have an appetite somethings got to be wrong!

We are STILL working on the office but we are finally starting to see the light.   We should be putting the furniture back in on Wednesday.  We have two more coats of paint on the crown molding to do and then we are officially done painting!  We are going to sand the floors one more time and start applying the polyurethane tonight.  We have to wait 4 hours before each coat and it requires 4 coats so we’ll take shifts tonight and make sure that it gets done.  We can walk on but it says no heavy use until the 3rd day so that means Wednesday night we can start loading in the furniture.  No more desk n my kitchen and my guest room will look like a guest room and not a storage unit!

Next big task is putting together the book cases that go in there.  Ashley is great when it comes to putting furniture together but he really hates when I buy pieces that don’t already come put together.  I love the book cases and I got them for a steal at Target so he’ll have to forgive me just this once.  After that it’s just putting the furniture in and hanging the pictures.  I’ll be glad when the office will function again like an office should.

We have a busy week ahead of us but are looking forward to the week.  Well, we are getting ready to start on the office again so I better go.  Hope everyone has a great week!  Can y’all believe it’s almost March??

Our Not So Much A Weekend Project

Well what we thought would take a weekend has turned out to be taking more like a week.  We decided that we would repaint our office and refinish the hardwoods in there and seriously thought it would take a weekend to do it but it turned out that it’s probably going to take more like a week.  The paint color we chose is amazing on the walls!  We are going to put the second coat on tomorrow night and then tackle putting the polyurethane on the floors.  We also decided that we’d go ahead an add crown molding this weekend too.  We bought two new bookcases to put in there and I’m looking for a new rug but haven’t found the right one yet.

I love to decorate and the Nester makes decorating so much fun!  I found her blog many moons ago and I cannot remember how I happened upon her but thank goodness I did!  She is amazing y’all and I know I’ve sung her praises before but she seriously knows what she’s talking about.  When I don’t know which way to color I also search her blog for an idea and I normally find it.  She recently started a series called “10 Minutes to a Room You’ll Love” and because of her serious I’ve decided to redo my master bedroom and kitchen.  I haven’t exactly told Ashley yet but that will conversation will come in due time.  Check out her series on Master Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Kitchens and Family Rooms as I am sure you’ll too find the inspiration you’ve been needing to spice up your home and fall in love with it all over again.

I’m off to search for curtains and a rug….. Happy Decorating!

This weekend was wonderful!  We did much of nothing except stay close to home and actually do some much needed spring cleaning in the winter.  My birthday was Friday and it was great.  Ashley had a basketball game and then we headed to dinner with some friends of ours.  It was great to hang out and catch up with our friends.   Since my brother-in-law’s deployment in September we’ve been helping my sister with our niece and nephew and keeping them every weekend so having a weekend off was great!

Most of you know that when we bought our house in August 2006 it was beyond ugly.  Looked somewhat like a crack house you’d see on Cops.  Since then we’ve gutted the house and totally redone it and we love it now.  But for anyone who’s remodeled a house you also know that you are never truly done remodeling until you hand the keys over to the new home owner.  There are still tons of projects that need to be done in our home but recently I fell in love with our home all over again and am super excited about getting this house done.  It’s a small house.  980 square feet and has come along way but it’s so cozy and feels like a home.  Our new project is our sun room.  And what makes this project even more exciting is that on February 18th in Charlotte, NC we’ll have our very own IKEA!  I am so excited and already putting together my wish list!

I love the Nester because she gives practical decorating tips for normal people with normal budgets.  She recently redecorated their master bedroom and it looks just as great as before but I love the new look.  If you are looking for a change check out her blog because this girl rocks when it comes to decorating!

We have a full week ahead of us and I’m still not sure what to get Ashley for Valentine’s Day.  Any suggestions please pass them my way!  We will have the weekend to ourselves again and so it might be a good weekend to get away or to do some home projects.  Not the average person’s perfect idea for a romantic weekend but we aren’t the average person either.  We love traveling but we also love staying home and cuddling in our own bed.

I hope everyone has a great week!

happy birthday to me!
